Is
it a bird? Is it a plane? NO!
It's
a Kubota Diesel Generator!

The
owners of Victor Island Getaway, situated off
the Mackay coast near Hay Point had to replace
their old Lister Generator. They purchased a new
Kubota J112, 12 kVA diesel generator from Geoff
Walsh Engine Parts the Kubota Power Equipment
dealer in Mackay.
The
problem was how to get it onto the island.
Access
to the island is by small boat only and to transport
a 350kg generator across 5kms of open sea in a
tinny was a project that no one volunteered to
take on, so the idea of flying it onto the island
by helicopter was born.
GEOFF
WALSH ENGINE PARTS will do whatever is necessary
to meet a customers requirements.

Pictured
is Frank Davis, Office Manager of Thiess Mackay,
taking delivery of yet another KJ series Kubota
Generator from Geoff Walsh, Dealer Principal of
Geoff Walsh Engine Parts in Mackay, Queensland.
Thiess
have purchased over 60 of these units from Geoff
Walsh Engine Parts over the past four years and
the unit in this photo is going to the Burton
site to replace a KJT180 that has over 32000 hours
on the clock. There are other units in there that
have now clocked more hours than that and are
still going strong.
Geoff
adds a few extra niceties to the KJ Generators
for Thiess in the form of test switches for the
oil pressure and water temperature shutdown systems
and a low water level shutdown is also added.
These
extras allow the operator to actually test each
shutdown circuit each time the unit is started.
A
Wiggins coupling is attachedc to the oil drain
to allow quick and easy oil changing and a 300
litre base fuel tank completes the modifications
of the unit.
Thiess
are to be commended for their dedication to good
servicing of their Kubota's but there is no getting
away from the fact that to produce hours of service
such as these, the Kubota generators have to be
an excellent product in the first place.
